CHRIS CLARK, MSAC

The first Type 1 Diabetic to complete the Ultraman Florida Race, Chris Clark is an enthusiastic athlete, coach, and health advocate, among many other things. The former FSU collegiate swimmer picked up biking and running after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and hearing two Type 1 diabetic triathletes speak about training with T1D.

Chris journeyed from triathlons to endurance events to ultra-endurance events and more, finishing 6th in the 2015 Ultraman Florida competition, finishing the 2019 Ultraman Florida race, being race announcer for the 2023 Ultraman Arizona race, and completing his Master's in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University in August 2023. His joy for coaching and learning as much as he can about sports, athletics, and coaching is only surpassed by his love of training in the pool, on his bikes, and hitting the pavement (when it's not 100+ degrees here in Florida).

When he’s not training, Chris researches and writes about coaching, athletics (particularly swim and triathlon) at the collegiate and pro levels, long-term athlete development, and athlete marketing and sponsorship. He is an advocate for T1D research and inclusivity in sport, schools, the workplace, and society at large. He and his wife previously ran a nonprofit organization, Clark Communications Group, to help Inspire, Educate, and Empower those living with and impacted by Type 1 Diabetes and other chronic illnesses. With the 2020 pandemic, he focused his sites on grad school and hopes to start another nonprofit to help those living and impacted by T1D again in the future.

Chris is also a keynote speaker, participating at numerous American Diabetes Association events in Jacksonville and South Florida. He was involved with numerous ADA and JDRF events in South Carolina, where he previously lived, as well as in Tallahassee, his current home. Chris also was the 'Sport and T1D' athletic presenter at the 2019 JDRF Summit in Jacksonville.

Chris's race goals include racing each of the UltraManendar year, participating in and competing in En events in a calduroMan, and participating in and competing in the RedBull Trans Siberian Extreme race. Any and all interest in sponsorship to assist in his pursuit of these raplease contact Chris here

Chris is honored to be a 2024 ambassador for Live Full Die Empty and Picky Bars. He was previously a member of the elite athlete team with Team Novo Nordisk before the program was cut, and was also previously an ambassador for Salming, Wattie Ink, Bike Law, and Nuun Hydration.
